(ECNS) -- Chinese star spiker Zhu Ting has officially signed a contract with Vakifbank Istanbul and will join the squad in mid-September for an annual pay of 1.1 million euros ($1.2 million), the Turkish club announced recently, Beijing Times reported.
Zhu won the MVP title at the 2016 Rio Olympic Games, with a total of 179 points from eight matches, including a tournament-high 33 in the semifinals against the Netherlands.
Her deal was second only to the 1.2 million euro South Korean volleyball player Kim Yeon-Koung secured with another Turkish team, Fenerbahçe, according to the paper.
Zhu will play for Vakifbank Istanbul in the number five spot during the new season, it was said.
Earlier this year, Turkish media reports unveiled the news, saying Vakifbank Istanbul would offer a record high price to secure the Olympic MVP.
