(ECNS) -- At its fall event held on September 7 in the United States, Apple officially released the iPhone 7 and 7 Plus, both capable of blocking harassment calls thanks to a brand new iOS10.
The company will begin taking orders for the new generation iPhones from September 9, and the iOS10 that comes with updates of iMessage, Siri and anti-harassment functions will be officially released on September 13 (September 14 Beijing Time).
The iOS10 has been optimized especially for Chinese users, and will take on a harassment recognition function with technological support from Chinese Internet giant Tencent.
Tencent's technology team will work to ensure a simultaneous release of the latest version of its mobile phone management app to hundreds of millions of users.
Users are asked to update their system to iOS10 on September 14, download or update the latest version of Tencent's mobile phone management app, and activate the anti-harassment function.
Telecom scams and harassment calls have long haunted Chinese smartphone users. iPhone users are particularly vulnerable to spam calls because Apple has long refused to open its data interface to third-party developers.
According to Tencent, in the first half of 2016 alone, harassment calls marked by users through its mobile phone management app totaled 323 million, or a daily average of 1.76 million, including more than 88.28 million scam calls, or a daily average of 485,000. In one case, the app had filtered 1.08 billion harassment calls to ensure that a user received one secure call, the company said.
