(ECNS) -- Chinese online ride-hailing companies say they will carry out qualification reviews and end cooperation with unqualified drivers, in response to a new rule announced by the Ministry of Transport, Beijing Youth Daily reported.
The ministry publicized revised rules regarding the management of taxi driver qualifications, which set clear entry criteria for drivers on such platforms, including a requirement that they have no previous record of criminal violence.
Moreover, drivers are required to take both national and regional exams to qualify for official registration for driving jobs.
Many Chinese ride-hailing companies, including Didi Chuxing and Yidao Yongche, said on Sunday that they will step up checks and fire unqualified drivers.
Didi Chuxing also called for management innovation, such as online tests. It suggested that online training and exams be offered to meet management requirements.
