(ECNS) -- Amazon China has denied a rumor that it is going to sell its fast-growing business in China, saying it is "absolutely impossible."
The announcement came after a Chinese blog said on Sunday that tech company LeEco, or Leshi Internet Information and Technology, planned to acquire Amazon China, which would be big news among e-commerce merchants.
Elaine Chang, vice president of Amazon and also president of Amazon China, said in a public letter that Amazon China is one of the key markets in Amazon's global strategy, adding that they would continue to invest and push forward in the huge market.
By August, Chinese customers had placed more than 10 million orders for overseas items through direct delivery at amazon.com. Sales in the first half-year in China have seen rocketing growth, a year-on-year increase of 400 percent.
Following the statement from Amazon, Zhang Zhiwei, president of LeEco's O2O platform, also said on his official microblog that the company has no acquisitions pending.
