(ECNS) -- Scalpers are trying to cash in on Chinese consumers who eagerly want a battery replacement for their iPhone 6s, says the Beijing Morning Post.

Apple is offering free battery replacements for iPhone 6s users, but it is a lengthy process and difficult to make reservations in cities such as Beijing, Shanghai and Guangzhou.

"I came to try my luck, though I heard it was almost impossible to get the battery replaced by lining up," a man surnamed Wang said outside Apple's flagship store in Beijing's Sanlitun area.

"Long queues are common in front of all Apple stores in Beijing," a security guard said.

Not everyone has the patience to line up, however, and where there is profit, there are scalpers. And this time, the scalpers are using the internet.

By typing "reservation" into the search boxes of some e-commerce platforms, up to 100 items are displayed, claiming that they help iPhone 6s customers get new batteries.

The prices range from 10 yuan ($1.5) to 100 yuan, depending on the cities. But even after purchasing the reservations online, customers must still wait two or three days.

Apple's customer service advises iPhone 6s users to avoid rush hours for battery replacements, but customers are unclear about when rush hours occur.
