(ECNS) -- Authorities are investigating the death of a girl who fell from a thrill ride at an amusement park in Fengdu County, Southwest China's Chongqing Municipality.
The ride consists of a passenger platform suspended between two counterweighted arms, turned by motors, and allows risk-takers to rotate in exciting ways. The price for one ride is 15 yuan ($2.2).
A video taken by an eyewitness showed the girl was thrown into the air after her safety belt broke and then fell on the fence.
The girl was later identified as a local of Fengdu and 14 years old.
Local authorities said the private-owned facility was closed pending an investigation led by the local police, quality bureau, work safety supervision department and other experts.
An official said it may take days to get a final result.
