(ECNS) -- Having a sound sleep at night has become an increasingly difficult dream for many young people, according to a report by Chinese Sleep Research Association.

A survey of nearly 60,000 respondents aged 10 to 45 found that 76 percent said they had trouble falling asleep, while 13 percent thought sleep was a form of suffering. Only less than one-quarter said their sleep was generally fine.

Those who could fall sleep quickly and stay asleep until morning accounted for 11 percent. Only 5 percent of respondents said they could keep a routine daily sleep timetable.

The survey also showed that 5.6 percent felt refreshed after one night of sleep, while 91 percent said they were either still tired or unable to get out of bed easily in the morning. Over 60 percent stay awake to finish work.

Those born under the zodiac signs of Sagittarius, Capricornus and Aquarius tended to be more excited late at night so their life schedules were complicated, according to the survey.

The association said stress, anxiety, and low spirits were the main culprits in bad sleep, worsened by the obsession with electronic products.

In the survey, 93 percent said they played with smartphones before sleep or spent a lot of time watching TV series and shopping online.
