(ECNS) - The China Innovation Index rose 6.3 percent in 2017 to 196.3 points, the National Bureau of Statistics (NBS) said in a statement on its official website.
The index has four sub-indices that measure the innovation environment as well as input, output and effects, areas that increased 10.4 percent, 6.2 percent, 5.9 percent and 4.8 percent, respectively, during the year.
The sub-index for the environment rose by 19.1 points mainly due to more enterprises benefiting from tax breaks.
Steady growth was also reported in the field of trilateral cooperation among industry, academy and research institutes, the number of trademarks, technical transfer deals and the contribution by science and technology.
