(ECNS) - China’s social e-commerce startup Xiaohongshu, which means ‘little red book,’ has been removed from Android app stores for “unknown reasons”, Beijing News reported.
The app, a mashup of Instagram and Pinterest, can still be found on Apple’s App Store.
Founded in 2013, Xiaohongshu originally started as a platform to share guides on purchasing cosmetics overseas. Later, it mushroomed into a live community, with 85 million active monthly users and 250 million registered users.
The social media and online retailing startup raised $300 million in June 2018, the D funding round, giving the company an estimated market value of $3 billion.
Reports say Xiaohongshu is in talks to raise another $500 million, which would put the company’s valuation at $6 billion.
