(ECNS) - The new high-speed railway linking Beijing and Zhangjiakou, co-hosts of the 2022 Winter Olympics, will make full application of 5G technology, according to the information office for the Hebei government.
Tech giant Huawei and the Hebei subsidiary of China Mobile are joining to turn it into China’s first 5G-empowered rail line. Equipment and solutions provided by Huawei are said to enjoy advantages in many aspects.
The 174-km-long railway with 10 stations is expected to be completed and put into use in 2019, when the trip between the two cities will be cut from more than 3 hours to just 50 minutes. The rail line has also made a number of other breakthroughs including the use of China's Beidou Navigation Satellite System on its bullet trains.
