(ECNS) -- As the world's first curved glass bridge without cables, Tanxishan Glass Landscape Pedestrian Bridge in Zibo, East China's Shandong Province, topped the Structural Awards 2019 for Pedestrian Bridges, according to a report released on Tuesday.
The 2.45-meter-wide bridge deck spans 117 meters in length, with a suspended height of 101 meters.
Its maximum load capacity is 3.5 tons per square meter, with a total load of 900 tons and a single load of 10,000 people.
Designed by Architectural Design and Research Institute of Tongji University, the bridge adopts the installation method of rotating bridge deck and arch frame through 3D laser scanning and positioning technology.
The scenic spot set up a monitoring system for the glass bridge to ensure its safety during the operation period, especially during peak holidays.
The glass bridge has attracted more visitors to boost local tourism.
Chinese structural design won five of the twelve awards at the World Structural Awards 2019.
