(ECNS) -- A young Chinese recently wrote his digital inheritance into his last will, including WeChat, Alipay, game accounts and virtual currency, sparking heated online debate.
With the popularity of online payments, many people carry large amounts of RMB in their WeChat and Alipay wallets. Some citizens have also invested lots of money into their online gaming accounts.
It is hoped their digital inheritance would be inherited by their families.
Relatives can provide their identity cards, relationship certificates, death certificates and commitment letters to official customer services to inherit the legacy of the deceased on WeChat and Alipay.
The problem is their families may not bear knowledge of such accounts.
A total 236 people born in the 1990s had made their wills by the end of August this year, with beneficiaries mostly their parents, according to the China Will Registration Center.
