(ECNS) -- A grand glass viewing platform began trial operation on Saturday at the Dashiwei Sinkholes in Baise county, South China's Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region.

Yunhai Tianzhou, which means "a flying ship in the clouds", spans a 1,450-meter-high ridge.

It is 80 meters long and 10 meters wide, overhanging a sinkhole with a vertical depth of 613 meters.

Formed about 65 million years ago, the Dashiwei sinkhole is the second largest known sinkhole in the world.
