(ECNS) -- The number of confirmed novel coronavirus cases across the world is approaching 2 million as of Tuesday, with fatalities exceeding 125,000, according to the latest tally by Johns Hopkins University.
The U.S. has recorded 602,000 confirmed cases and more than 25,000 deaths. As of 6 p.m. (2200 GMT) on Tuesday, a total of 202,630 cases were reported in New York state, with 110,464 in New York City.
In Italy, the number of total confirmed cases rose to 162,488 and the death toll to 21,067.
The Chinese mainland reported 46 new confirmed cases, of which 36 were from abroad, the National Health Commission said on Monday. The 10 new domestically transmitted cases are eight from Heilongjiang Province and two from Guangdong Province.
No new confirmed cases were reported in central China's Hubei Province Tuesday, local health authority said Wednesday.
By April 14, there have been 82,295 cumulative infections, 77,716 recoveries, 3,342 deaths and 1,137 remaining infections in the Chinese mainland. Another 1,012 cumulative cases in Hong Kong, 45 in Macao and 393 in Taiwan have been reported.
