(ECNS) -- An opening ceremony themed "Home for academicians in Wuzhen" was held Sunday in Tongxiang County, east China's Zhejiang Province.
Three academicians from the Chinese Academy of Sciences, nine academicians from the Chinese Academy of Engineering, and six academicians from Japan, the United Kingdom and other countries and regions became the first batch of 18 academicians admitted to the family.
At the ceremony, the Tongxiang government and the Chinese Academy of Sciences signed an intention agreement on jointly building the Eco-agriculture Institute in Yangtze River Delta.
Tongxiang County has invested heavily to attract talent. It set up the Qingtong Angel Fund for 200 million yuan and built a series of talent platforms, including the "Home for academicians in Wuzhen,” said Sheng Yongjun, party secretary of Tongxiang, at the ceremony.
Wuzhen is known for its beautiful aquatic environment and as an Internet hub for advanced technologies.
"Home for academicians in Wuzhen" is one of the first eight pilot sites of "Home for academicians in Zhejiang."
