(ECNS) -- China will work to resume travel with Europe in a gradual and orderly manner on the premise of guaranteeing COVID-19 prevention and control measures, the Chinese Foreign Ministry said on Wednesday.
Zhao Lijian, spokesperson for the ministry, made the remarks in response to a question regarding the EU’s recent inclusion of China on its list of safe countries, but only if China allows EU travelers to enter.
The EU adopted a recommendation Tuesday to open its external borders on Wednesday to citizens of 15 countries, including China.
Since the novel coronavirus broke out, China has fought hard and achieved effective results, Zhao said, adding that China has been taking active measures to facilitate European personnel's travel to China for essential economic, trade and scientific activities.
China will continue to fight COVID-19 on an ongoing basis, Zhao said.
