(ECNS) -- Athletes from all over the world have shared diverse dishes provided by China during the Beijing 2022 Winter Olympic Games. Traditional Chinese food like dumplings have been particularly popular among global followers.
Jenise Spiteri, a snowboarder from Malta, says she likes Chinese food very much, among which steamed red bean buns are her favorite. She says she ate six buns every day on average during her Beijing trip.
Spiteri is not the only person attracted to Chinese food. Julia Marino from America expressed her craze for Chinese dumplings. "I've eaten about 200 dumplings since I came to the Olympic Village, and I eat them every time I come back from training," said the young snowboarder.
Jutta Leerdam, 23, is a Dutch speed skater. She uploaded a Vlog on her Instagram to show her life in the Olympic Village in Beijing, garnering more than 200,000 likes. In the Vlog, she shared the Chinese hot pot-like food Malatang, which is many different ingredients cooked in a spicy and numbing soup base. Many netizens expressed their wishes to taste it.
Approved by the International Olympic Committee, a total of 678 dishes will be served during the games to athletes from diverse cultural backgrounds. The menu was designed to meet the different dietary needs of athletes, while also taking religious diversity into consideration, according to the organizers of Beijing 2022.
Besides a dazzling array of food, intelligent robots providing catering service have also caught people's attention. Various robots at the Main Media Center in Beijing are on duty all day every day to cook Chinese food like Kung Pao Chicken and Dongpo Pork (braised pork belly) for Beijing 2022 participators.
