(ECNS) -- Temporary pet care centers have been established in Shenzhen, capital of Guangdong Province, in order to help vulnerable pets during their masters’ centralized quarantine.
One temporary pet care center is located on Guangming Street, Guangming District, with an area of 8,500 square meters and a building area of 1,500 square meters. It can provide shelter for up to 300 pets.
In mid-March 2022, residents of a village in Futian District of Shenzhen, a pandemic-hit area, had to be put under centralized isolation and where unable to take their large-size pets.
In order to help these vulnerable animals, Shenzhen established two temporary care centers for over 200 pets. Technicians for an animal pandemic were dispatched here to make ensure the safety and living environment of these pets. A total of 715 environmental samples collected tested negative.
The care centers are equipped with air conditioners and thermometers to ensure that the temperature and humidity are comfortable for pets. Besides feeding them twice a day, volunteers will also walk dogs once or twice. And masters can receive videos shot by volunteers to mitigate anxiety about their pets.
Shenzhen is not only the city that has set up animal care centers in China. Changsha, capital of Central China’s Hunan, has also opened a project of public welfare for pets. The city has helped more than 100 pets from 32 families during centralized isolation.
