(ECNS) -- Three landmarks including a theater, a library, and a museum in Beijing's sub-center are to be completed by the end of 2022, said the Beijing Investment Group on Tuesday.
The main part of the museum, the "Boat of the Grand Canal," has a built-up area of about 100,000 square meters and a height of 35 meters, and is mostly completed, said Hu Jie, a person in charge of the project.
The museum is expected to welcome 6,000 visits a day. It integrates multiple functions such as collections and storage, open exhibitions, scientific research, social education, and preservation and restoration of cultural relics.
About 80 percent of the theater adjacent to the museum has been finished and installation of stage machinery has begun.
With a built-up area of 125,300 square meters and a height of 49.5 meters, the theater has a total capacity of 5,500 seats. The venue is able to host activities such as performances, artistic creations, and cultural education.
According to Sha Gang, deputy general manager of the three projects, the overall construction progress of the library is at 70 percent.
It covers a floor area of 75,000 square meters and is about 22.3 meters high. With about 2,400 reading seats, it will receive 5,000 to 8,000 visits a day.
The library will be built into a provincial level public library, and integrate forest scenery with reading areas, said Sha.
