(ECNS) -- The 2022 report on China’s internet development was released Wednesday in Beijing by the Internet Society of China.
According to the report, China has established the largest 5G network in the world with 1.425 million 5G bases. Its applied IPv6 address resources rank first in the world, and its computing power scale ranked second in the world by the end of 2021.
In 2021, China’s emerging technologies such as AI, cloud computing, big data, blockchain, and quantum information played a leading role in the world. China’s international patent applications in the network and information field exceeded 30,000, accounting for over one-third of the global total.
Projects of 5G+industrial internet under construction exceeded 1,800 in 2021, covering over 20 major industries of the national economy including steel and electricity.
The digital economic scale of China increased to 45.5 trillion yuan (about $6.53 trillion) in 2021, ranking second in the world, while the e-government online service index jumped to ninth in the world.
The report also pointed out that China’s cyber security industry has made progress while maintaining stability in general. The country’s cyber security service scale reached 200.25 billion yuan last year, a year-on-year increase of 15.5 percent.
