(ECNS) -- Guangdong-Macao in-Depth Cooperation Zone in Hengqin held an opening ceremony to pilot intelligent networked autonomous driving vehicles on Thursday, with 10 self-driving vehicles openly tested on an 11-kilometer road for the first time.
Three leading Chinese companies in self-driving technology were approved to test 10 vehicles, including two RoboBuses, five Robotaxies and three self-driving sanitation vehicles.
Companies that perform well in the first phase of pilot can increase more vehicles in next tests.
The cooperation zone will gradually open more roads as test sections for intelligent networked autonomous driving depending on the test condition.
Citizens and tourists are expected to experience self-driving vehicles during the National Day holiday.
