(ECNS) -- Shanghai welcomed its first Prada perfume and beauty store in Réel Mall on Wednesday.
A total of 336 "first stores" were set up in Shanghai in the first half of the year, 14 percent higher than in 2020, while more than 130 new stores have opened in the second half of the year, according to the Shanghai Municipal Commission of Commerce.
Shanghai has been speeding up its "first-store economy" to build itself into a global consumption metropolis and diversify the city's high-quality offerings.
Last year, 1,078 first stores were launched across Shanghai, including 14 global or Asian debuts, along with 167 first stores on the Chinese mainland.
