(ECNS) -- A Chinese research team on Sunday announced that China's tallest tree, a Abies ernestii var. salouenensis in Zayu County, Tibet Autonomous Region, broke a previous record to set a new high with 83.4 meters, about the height of a 28-story building.
And more than 50 species of high plants were found on the tree, for example, climbing plants, epiphytes, and parasitic plants.
The tree was found in Zayu County in May and its accurate height was eventually confirmed in August.
The previous record was set by a 83.2-meter Abiesernestii var. salouenensis in Zayu county.
