(ECNS) -- A total of 338 express delivery outlets of the Beijing branch of China Post Group have fully resumed service as of Dec. 14, 2022, and the backlog of parcels cleared until Dec. 15.
Beijing Municipal Postal Administration has set up a goal of supplementing courier staff shortages as soon as possible and resuming mail and express delivery services across the city within a week.
In order to solve parcel backlog in Beijing, the China Post Group asked parcels processing centers in Langfang of Hebei Province, and Tianjin to sort parcels sent to Beijing to relieve pressure on the Beijing branch and speed up delivery. Meanwhile, it also deployed vehicles from Beijing’s neighboring provinces to support parcel delivery and the transportation of materials for epidemic prevention and control, and people's livelihood.
To ensure the health of couriers, the Beijing branch gave full support to them, for example, by distributing epidemic prevention and control materials like N95 masks and face shields and preparing free meals.
"We provide free medical treatment and psychological counseling for staff members infected with COVID-19, encouraging them to return to work in a healthy state. Now, the return-to-work rate has reached 100 percent," said Chen Lanying, deputy director of Dongsi branch postal office in Beijing.
The Beijing branch of China Post Group fully cooperates with the local government to ensure the supply and transportation of drugs in order to stabilize market prices and protect people's livelihood as drugs are badly needed.
In addition, it also gives priority to the delivery of epidemic prevention and control materials and articles for daily use.
As such, it has set up a team with 800 staff members to replenish the delivery capacity and motivate staff members to return to work as soon as possible to ensure parcels are delivered in a timely manner.
