(ECNS) -- Many Chinese universities have resumed applications for entry from alumni, some for visitors, including students’ parents.
Tsinghua University, Peking University, Renmin University of China, the University of Science and Technology Beijing, Wuhan University, and Harbin Engineering University have announced that alumni can make reservations to enter campuses.
Previously, visitors were not allowed to enter some areas of campus, such as dormitories, faculty residences, and teaching and scientific research places except for libraries and gyms.
Cui Lei, a student at Wuhan University, said there are many visitors every March when the cherry blossoms bloom on the campus, which has caused trouble for the school, but he was glad to see the reopening of his school.
Lv Linhai, a professor from Nanjing University, said universities play a role in spreading knowledge, and at the same time they should undertake social responsibilities.
"Universities not only provide physical resources for visitors, but should also become knowledge resource management centers," said Lv.
Previously, alumni and the public were not allowed to enter universities due to COVID-19 epidemic prevention and control.
