(ECNS) -- A chartered plane carrying China’s humanitarian supplies for earthquake-hit Syria departed from Nanjing, Jiangsu Province, on Tuesday morning, and is expected to arrive in Damascus on Wednesday local time, according to China International Development Cooperation Agency.
The batch of emergency aid includes 30,000 first-aid kits, 10,000 cotton-padded jackets, 300 cotton tents, 20,000 blankets, 70,000 adult-sized training pants, other emergency medical equipment and materials such as ventilators, anesthesia machines, oxygen generators, and LED surgical shadowless lights.
According to tallies by the United Nations and the Syrian government, more than 5,814 people have been killed in Syria in the magnitude 7.8 earthquake that hit the country last week.
