(ECNS) -- The opening ceremony of China-Thailand Electric Power Silk Road College and China-Thailand New Energy Power Workshop was held Thursday at Guangxi Electrical Polytechnic Institute in Nanning, Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region.

Five Thai students will learn new-energy equipment technologies at the institute in the next three years.

“China has advanced technologies and I’ve been waiting to learn them. The equipment here is advanced. I’ll seize the opportunity and work hard,” said a Thai student.

Guangxi Electrical Polytechnic Institute has deepened cooperation with ASEAN countries to conduct electric power technology training for enterprises in ASEAN countries such as Thailand, Vietnam and Laos, said Tang Chunsheng, secretary of the Party Committee at the school.

The school also accepts students from ASEAN countries and carries out electric power vocational education and training courses with enterprises and universities in ASEAN countries, Tang added.

Benjamas Tanvetyanont, Consul General of the Royal Thai Consulate-General in Nanning, attended the opening ceremony. Thailand and China have broad prospects for cooperation in the field of new energy power, and the two sides are actively promoting green transformation for sustainable energy development, she said.

Thailand attaches great importance to the development of new-energy industries, such as electric vehicles, and the Royal Thai Consulate-General in Nanning will actively promote the cooperation between Thailand and China, she added.

Thai students who graduated from the China-Thailand Electric Power Silk Road College are expected to serve the floating photovoltaic (PV) project in Ubon Ratchathani, Thailand.
