(ECNS) -- Luneurs, an ice cream bakery, on Thursday said it has never engaged in the BMW MINI’s offline activities but is only an ice cream provider for the auto brand.
Luneurs's clarification came after a video clip shows two staff members of the auto brand refused to give propagated Luneurs free ice cream to Chinese visitors, but generously gave it to a foreign visitor.
Hashtags including Luneurs ice cream, BMW MINI, BMW MINI’s apology, and others related to the issue have sparked heated disputes on Chinese social platform Sina Weibo.
BMW on Thursday issued an apology over the incident, and attributed the incident to imperfect internal management and dereliction of duty by employees.
Luneurs also made a statement, clarifying that the two staff members giving ice cream to visitors at the BMW MINI’s booth are not their employees. Luneurs just provided ice cream for the auto brand, it said.
According to the official account of Luneurs, it is a French ice cream bakery established in Shanghai, which makes all kinds of bread, seasonal desserts and ice cream.
