(ECNS) -- Four African youths from Kenya and Tanzania learned Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM) therapies such as cupping, massage, guasha, and moxibustion at Zhangzhou Health Vocational College in Fujian Province during their two-day research starting from Monday.
This activity will carry out professional training and experience projects such as traditional Chinese rehabilitation technology, sports protection skills, medical examination technology and TCM culture experience in China.
Benner is a marathon athlete from Kenya. He went to learn TCM rehabilitation skills in Zhangzhou before a race in central China’s Wuhan.
This is the first time Benner has tried cupping for massage. He said he felt relaxed after cupping and would share this therapy with other athletes.
Yvonne, a senior from Kenya, said no need to worry about the fire of cupping and the therapy has promoted blood circulation after her experiencing for the first time.
“Cupping is very simple and easy to learn. I want to bring TCM rehabilitation technologies back to Africa,” she said.
Wang Jing, one of the teachers in charge of this training, said TCM therapies have been widely recognized, especially by athletes at home and abroad, because of their practicality.
“In recent years, in addition to the popularity of Chinese overseas, African countries and regions have gradually become interested in TCM,” said Chen Yisan, vice head of the school.
The school will give full play to the advantages of TCM, improve the level of foreign exchanges and cooperation, spread health culture and enhance the health and well-being of people in countries along the “Belt and Road Initiative," Chen said.
