(ECNS) -- Five of nine cameras newly deployed in Shaanxi Changqing National Nature Reserve this year have captured wild giant pandas, a record high for the period.
The video clips and images were taken during January and April, with six giant pandas spotted.
Among them, two were caught on camera simultaneously on April 10 in Shitahe, Qianyang County, Baoji City, Shaanxi Province. They could be a mother and her cub or a couple in season passing by for food, said the nature reserve.
Some of the cameras recorded wild giant pandas for the first time.
These cameras are on the border of protected areas and communities, showing that the quality of giant panda habitats in this region has been improved, and its populations have gradually expanded, the nature reserve said.
