(ECNS) -- A total of 371 schools in Guilin, Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region, have been suspended on Monday morning due to the heavy rain.
Local meteorological department issued a red alert at 5:32 a.m. on Monday for rainstorms in the urban area of Guilin in the next three hours from then.
The Education Bureau of Guilin then published a notice requesting schools in the areas covered by the red rainstorm alert to close temporarily to ensure safety.
According to the Guangxi Meteorological Observatory, from tonight to tomorrow, some parts of Baise, Chongzuo, Nanning, Qinzhou, Fangchenggang, Yulin, Wuzhou, and Guigang will have light to moderate rain and some areas of these places may suffer heavy to violent rainfall, accompanied by strong convective weather such as short-term thunderstorms and strong winds.
The left parts of Guangxi will be cloudy and some areas will have showers from tonight to tomorrow, said the Observatory.
From Tuesday night to Wednesday, eastern Guilin and some coastal areas of Guangxi will experience moderate to heavy rainfall, and some parts in these places may be lashed by rainstorm. In addition, showers or thunderstorms will lash most other areas of Guangxi and some areas may experience heavy rainfall.
The rainy weather will last until Thursday.
