(ECNS) -- China’s first intelligent floating production storage and offloading (FPSO) vessel “Offshore Oil 123” was delivered in Nantong, Jiangsu Province, on Friday. It marks a new progress in China's intelligent construction of an offshore oilfield.
The 100,000-ton-level vessel is invested by CNOOC Energy Technology & Services Limited. It is China’s first FPSO vessel to integrate digital technologies like cloud computing, big data, Internet of Things, artificial intelligence, and edge computing.
It will operate at the Lufeng 12-3 oilfield in the Pearl River Mouth basin of the South China Sea, with an estimated annual output of 1.5 million metric tons.
A FPSO is a floating vessel used by the offshore oil and gas industry for the production, processing, storage, transport, and power generation of offshore oil and natural gas.
China has become one of the largest FPSO vessel manufacturing and application countries in the world. Its number and gross tonnage of FPSOs are among the highest in the world.
