(ECNS) -- A sudden fire broke out in Xijiang Qianhu Miao Village in Leishan County, southwest China's Guizhou Province, on Monday, according to local emergency management department.
The blaze started at around 09:50 a.m. and was extinguished 30 minutes later, said local authorities in a statement. A rescue team has been dispatched to quench the blaze.
Two wooden houses were burnt in the accident. The cause of the fire is under investigation.
The Qianhu Miao village has more than 1,200 wooden Diaojiaolou, or houses on stilts, built on hills with particular Miao characteristics, making it China's largest and most typical Diaojiaolou stockaded village of the Miao ethnic group. The village has a history of over 2,000 years.
