(ECNS) -- The Solomon Islands opened its embassy in China on Tuesday. Its Prime Minister (PM) Manasseh Sogavare attended the ceremony in Beijing.
Sogavare kicked off his official visit to China on Sunday. He and his delegation will meet a number of Chinese enterprise representatives in Beijing and visit East China's Jiangsu and South China's Guangdong, to seek business opportunities.
The seven-day official visit is Sogavare's second to China since the Solomon Islands established diplomatic relations with the former in 2019. The Pacific island nation joined the Belt and Road Initiative (BRI) during its PM’s first visit to China the same year.
Sogavare hopes both countries could enhance exchanges at different levels and deepen cooperation in the fields of economy, science and technology, sustainable development and education.
