(ECNS) -- British Foreign Secretary James Cleverly started a long-awaited trip to China on Wednesday. On the same day, Kristalina Georgieva, managing director of the International Monetary Fund (IMF), also visited China.
Maintaining and growing bilateral relations serves the common interests of the peoples of China and the UK, the spokesperson said.
Cleverly has become the UK’s highest-level official to visit China after the COVID-19 pandemic.
Additionally, an IMF spokesperson said on Tuesday that Kristalina Georgieva would visit China during Aug. 30 to Sept. 3, before travelling to Indonesia and India for ASEAN and Group of 20 summits.
