(ECNS)-- Jim Rogers, the famous international investor and financial titan, recently joined China News Network in an exclusive interview to share his insights on the U.S.-China Summit Meeting and U.S.-China relations.
On November 15 local time, Chinese President Xi Jinping and the U.S. President Joe Biden held a summit at the Filoli Estate, San Francisco.
In the interview, Rogers said it is good to see the recent positive signs released on the U.S.-China relations, which is of great benefit to both sides. He looks forward to a higher level of bilateral trade ties and calls on the U.S. politicians to roll out more reasonable China Policy to facilitate that.
“Cooperation is common aspiration of two peoples”
Recent data from the Civil Aviation Administration of China (CAAC) revealed a rising number of regular direct flights between China and the U.S. and plunging ticket prices.
Rogers said that the COVID-19 pandemic caused a lot of interactions between the U.S. and China to slow down, and he is pleased to see that they are now opening up again.
He believes that the resumption of people-to-people exchanges after the COVID-19 pandemic is good for both countries, since many Americans like China and want to visit China and vice versa.
In early November, the China International Import Expo (CIIE) welcomed its first U.S. delegation in history, attracting more than 200 exhibitors representing the industry of semiconductors, medical devices, new energy vehicles, beauty, and others.
Rogers said that the CIIE brings opportunities for both countries. “If people can meet together and talk about doing business together, they're not going to hit each other.”
He believes that as long as people can do business together, it will surely lead to bigger and better things.
America’s too much emphasis on security issues is “unnecessary”
“In the last few years, the U.S. is emphasizing security, which is, if you ask me, unnecessary,” noted Rogers. In his observation, throughout history, when the country has problems, politicians always shift the focus of the public and blame the foreigners.
The United States will hold a presidential election in November 2024. In the eye of Rogers, the politicians in Washington need things to be calm and “need everything that feels good and for people to be happy.” This also explains the recent warming-up relations between the U.S. and China.
Recently, the two countries have held a series of high-level dialogues on foreign policy, maritime affairs, climate change, arms control, and non-proliferation, sending out a positive signal of stabilizing bilateral relations.
Therefore, Rogers hopes that things could get much better and he also suggests that the U.S. government could optimize its China policy so that people in both countries can have prosperity.
“If people in both countries are making money, having prosperity and are selling to each other. That usually does not lead to a fight. That usually leads to good times for both countries. I hope we can do that,” concluded Rogers.
