(ECNS) -- Two of China's independently-developed large amphibious aircraft AG600M, codenamed Kunlong, completed their cold-weather test flights at Dongshan airport in Hailar, north China's Inner Mongolia Autonomous Region, according to the Aviation Industry Corporation of China.
The aircraft carried out tests to verify their major systems including power, fuel, hydraulic, flight control, avionics, landing gear and other key systems under low temperatures, frost and freezing conditions.
The test flights lasted for two weeks with lowest testing temperatures ranging from minus 20 degrees Celsius to minus 40 degrees Celsius.
The two AG600M aircraft arrived in Hailar respectively on Jan. 22 and 30, after a flight of nearly six hours and more than 2,200 kilometers, marking the longest flight distance of the aircraft since its first flight.
The development of AG600M fire-fighting aircraft has entered the critical stage of airworthiness compliance verification, and it is expected to obtain related type certificate in 2024, said the developer.
