(ECNS) --The United States, Japan, Australia and the Philippines held their first joint military drill in the South China Sea on April 7. What they did is akin to showing off muscles with the South China Sea as a backdrop, which has disrupted the regional stability.
Their claims that the cooperation is not aimed at China, while actively stirring tensions beneath the surface of the South China Sea. Countries outside the region, led by the United States, have been cobbling together small groupings in the South China Sea. They are attempting to disrupt the South China Sea situation and create disturbances, fueling tensions in the South China Sea.
With the concerted efforts of China and ASEAN countries, the South China Sea situation has been generally stable. There is no issue with regard to the freedom of navigation in the South China Sea. Hegemonic actions beneath the sea surface cannot alter the reality of territorial sovereignty above it. The hidden currents in the depths of the ocean, no matter how they surge, will ultimately vanish under the sunlight.
