(ECNS) -- The Luassim Hydropower Station repair and expansion project has been completed in Dundo City of North Ronda Province in Angola, according to its undertaker China Gezhouba Group Company Ltd., a subsidiary of China Energy Engineering Cooperation, on Friday.
The Minister of Energy and Water of Angola João Borgesgavehigh praised the project at the completion ceremony, stating that it is part of the country's clean energy strategies and action plans.
The minister added that the project has created approximately 3,000 direct jobs for the local community, benefiting over 200,000 residents. It is of great significance for local access to electricity, improvement of social conditions, and the development of agriculture, livestock and mining industries.
Chinese Ambassador to Angola Zhang Bin remarked that the project is a successful example of cooperation between Angola's Ministry of Energy and Water Resources and Chinese enterprises.
He hopes that in the future, China and Angola will implement more similar cooperation projects to promote Angola's economic and social development, enhance the well-being of the local people, and jointly create a better future.
As an important livelihood project under the Belt and Road Initiative in Angola, the Luassim Hydropower Station could become a crucial part of the local power supply system. It will effectively alleviate the electricity demands of several towns in North Ronda Province, significantly improve the residents' quality of life, and inject new impetus into local socio-economic development.
