(ECNS)-- Professor Zhou Wu at the School of Physical Sciences has been awarded the 2024 Burton Medal by the Microscopy Society of America the University of Chinese Academy of Sciences (UCAS) announced on Monday.
This award recognizes his outstanding contributions to single-atom resolution electron microscopy techniques and his original achievements in materials science applications.
According to UCAS, Zhou has dedicated years to the field of high-resolution electron microscopy. His research has opened new avenues for the studies on two-dimensional materials and devices, as well as quantum materials.
As one of the most prestigious awards in the field of electron microscopy, the Burton Medal has been awarded annually since its establishment in 1975 to a scientist under the age of 40 who has made outstanding contributions to electron microscopy and microanalysis.
Over the past 50 years, seven Chinese scholars have received this award, and Zhou is the first Burton Medal recipient working in China.
