(ECNS) -- In the first half of this year, trade volume between east China’s Zhejiang Province and Africa totaled $27.88 billion, a three percent increase year-on-year. Among this, imports from Africa registered $5.55 billion, up 12.9 percent year-on-year, said a local official at the 2024 Summit of the Forum on China-Africa Cooperation in Beijing.
In 2023, Zhejiang's trade with Africa reached $53.9 billion, while its investments in Africa totaled $4.6 billion, both ranking among the highest of all Chinese provinces, according to Chen Jiangfeng, deputy director of the Department of Foreign Affairs of Zhejiang Provincial People's Government.
Moreover, Zhejiang has established 31 sister-city relationships with African nations or regions, Chen said.
The province has sent medical teams to Africa for 55 consecutive years, providing support to countries such as Mali and the Central African Republic, according to Chen.
