(ECNS) -- Customs of China and Vietnam have reached a consensus on promoting the construction of smart ports, according to Nanning Customs of Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region on Friday.
Nanning Customs, along with Quang Ninh Customs, Cao Bang Customs, and Lang Son Customs of Vietnam, held a meeting to discuss key issues. Topics included deepening Sino-Vietnamese border customs cooperation, promoting the construction and promotion of smart ports, strengthening port management cooperation, ensuring the safety and stability of both industrial chains and supply chains, and deepening anti-smuggling law enforcement cooperation.
Since the establishment of this partnership, the four customs administrations have held 10 meetings. In the first eight months of this year, the import and export to Vietnam through Guangxi ports reached 397.19 billion yuan (about $56.21 billion), a year-on-year increase of 27.7 percent.
Nanning Customs noted that the two sides will further deepen cooperation to improve the efficiency of cross-border logistics and transportation.
