The China Internet Development Report 2024 and World Internet Development Report 2024, are officially released at the 2024 World Internet Conference (WIC) Wuzhen Summit on Thursday in Zhejiang Province.
(ECNS) – The China Internet Development Report 2024 and World Internet Development Report 2024, compiled by the Chinese Academy of Cyberspace Studies with support from China’s top think tanks and research institutions in the internet field, were officially released at the 2024 World Internet Conference (WIC) Wuzhen Summit on Thursday.
As this year marks the 30th anniversary of China’s full access to the global Internet, the reports provided an in-depth analysis of Internet development trends worldwide and global internet governance.
According to the China Internet Development Report 2024, China has rapidly advanced its information infrastructure, with its strategic, foundational, and leading role in economic and social development becoming increasingly evident.
The report shows that the policy framework for the digital economy has been advantaged rapidly , with advantage in data scale initially established. The integration of digital and real economies empowers new quality productive forces. Besides, the scope of inclusive digital public services has been further expanded.
According to the report, enhanced international cyberspace cooperation continues to advance toward building a community with a shared future in cyberspace.
The World Internet Development Report 2024 optimized the global internet development index framework, analyzing 52 representative countries and regions across six dimensions: information infrastructure, digital technology and innovation, digital economy, digital government, cybersecurity, and international cyberspace governance.
The report shows that countries worldwide are steadily advancing information infrastructure upgrades and making breakthroughs in new-generation information technologies.
The global digital economy is experiencing a new wave of growth, with countries worldwide placing greater emphasis on digital government development and improving their digital governance, according to the report.
Besides, the global cybersecurity landscape still faces significant challenges, marked by a sharp increase in cybercrime activities.
The report shows that data governance has become a central issue in international cyberspace governance, yet related rules and regulations remain fragmented, regionalized, and multipolar.
