(ECNS) -- China hopes the U.S. will do more to facilitate cultural and people-to-people exchanges between both countries, Chinese foreign ministry spokeswoman Mao Ning said on Thursday.
Mao said that China has noted the adjustment made by the U.S. “China opposes any move that can have a chilling effect,” she said, adding that China believes that it is conducive to the normal mutual visits between the people of the two countries.
The U.S. State Department on its website has downgraded its travel advisory for China from level three “reconsider travel” to a level two “exercise increased caution” and removed the notation indicating the risk of wrongful detention, revising its travel warning for the Chinese mainland from “exercise increased caution” to “reconsider travel”.
