(ECNS) -- The 2024 Sensors Summit, themed “Sense the World, Create the Future”, was held on Sunday in Zhengzhou City, central China's Henan Province, resulting in 42 significant contracts, valued at 28.4 billion yuan ($3.91 billion).
At the exhibition, sensor application products, including gas detectors and smart manhole cover monitoring systems, were on display. Among them, a flexible pressure sensor, about the size of an adult’s palm, attracted particular attention.
According to He Chuantao, director of the strategic marketing department at Hanwei Electronics Group Corporation, the sensor can be used in biomimetic robots’ smart hands. This sensor gives the robot a sense of “skin,” enhancing its tactile sensitivity and allowing it to perform more delicate and precise movements, He added.
The 2024 Top 10 Sensor Industry Development Report released at the summit shows that the global sensor market reached a value of $192.97 billion in 2023. At the same time, China's sensor technology and market size have seen rapid growth, reaching 364.47 billion yuan in 2023.
In recent years, Zhengzhou has seen rapid growth in its sensor industry. According to Zhengzhou Mayor He Xiong, the city is home to over 3,000 related and application-based companies, with a core industry scale surpassing 30 billion yuan.
He said that Zhengzhou has developed sensor industry chains in diverse sectors, including gas, meteorology, agriculture, environmental monitoring, and rail transportation, with production exceeding 35 million.
