Chinese athletes achieve record-breaking 194 world championships in 2024: report

(ECNS) --In 2024, Chinese athletes won a total of 194 world championships across 33 events, setting a new all-time record, according to a report released by the Competitive Sports Department of the General Administration of Sport of China on Thursday. 

The report points out that in 2024, Chinese athletes claimed 40 gold medals, 27 silver medals, and 24 bronze medals at the Paris Olympics, marking the best performance by China in an overseas Olympics.

Since the founding of the People's Republic of China, Chinese athletes have won a total of 4,107 world championships and set 1,419 world records. Since the beginning of the reform and opening-up, Chinese athletes have secured 4,083 world championships and broken 1,245 world records.
