(Ecns.cn)--To foreigners, Tan Jing maybe just a name that sounds vaguely familiar, but it is a 'household word' in China thanks to her beautiful voice. This messenger of Chinese culture discussed her mission in an interview with CNS on November 16.
Exuding youth and energy, Tan Jing breezed into the interview studio fashionably dressed and sporting a saucy pair of red-framed glasses. But it is her unique journey in music that ensures Tan would upstage numerous other beautiful Chinese girls.
Tan Jing once gave a solo concert at the Vienna Musikverein, one day after her 29th birthday, on September 12, 2006. She is the same girl who sang the song Sky at the opening ceremony of Beijing 2008. Now she is going to appear in a concert themed "Together in London" at London's Royal Albert Hall on November 28, together with foreign artists that include Swedish pianist Robert Wells, and lead singer and bassist of British rock band Deep Purple, Glenn Hughes.
Passing on the Olympic spirits
The Olympic Games serve as a bond between the metropolises of London and Beijing. Tan Jing expects to send her own best wishes for the 2012 London Olympics in the form of music. Tang disclosed this concert appearance was by invitation from the International Olympic Committee (IOC), and it is her honor to participate in yet another Olympic event.
Tan Jing once sang the ten-minute song "Dating with China" at the closing ceremony of the 2006 Doha Asian Games held in Qatar, making a welcome gesture to attendees to come along to the 2010 Asian Games slated for Guangzhou. "Standing on that stage, I felt very proud to see our large team of Chinese athletes", recalls Tan.
In her private life, Tang is a big fan of sports too, with a special interest in badminton, table tennis and billiards. Despite her tight schedule, she also sticks to an exercise regimen of her own so she can maintain enough strength for her concert and opera performances.
