Strict judge, incisive criticism
In 2011, Jin became a judge of a dancing show produced by Shanghai Dragon TV, where she rose to fame again with her incisive and mostly critical comments.
"You look gorgeous standing still, but when you move you are not sexy at all," said Jin to a contestant. "Seriously speaking, please stop dancing after the contest. You look like a stupid woman when you dance."
Upon hearing such words, many contestants, some of whom were already celebrities, would burst into tears. According to Jin, this revealed the weak-mindedness of today's young stars.
"If they cannot take harsh advice, how will they survive in the entertainment world? If they can't take it, they should be axed by their company as soon as possible. It's a waste of money otherwise," Jin said.
I am not afraid of being criticized or scolded, nor do I fear offending anyone, she added.
"I'm just as incisive in conversation, which does not hurt anyone physically. Once they calm down and think my comments over, they will eventually agree with me," explained Jin, stressing that she is a dedicated judge and has tried her best to be professional.
"People should be prepared for what they do," add Jin. "I make comments according to my experience, and never talk nonsense. I am not commenting on things like real estate or kung fu, of which I know nothing."
"I treat everybody equally," pointed out Jin, denying that she has insulted dancers.
Strong-willed, but tender-hearted
After years of struggles in the entertainment circle, Jin has become a woman with great self-confidence.
"Confidence is based on experience. I was not born like this; I am neither noble nor rich; I became confident only after going through various ups and downs," said Jin.
In regard to the prejudice she has endured, Jin said the pain has made her strong, and that she is thankful for her friends as well as her enemies.
Strong-willed as she appears, Jin is also an easy-going and tender-hearted woman, who has always tried her best to cooperate with staff during shows or at press releases, according to some who have worked with her.
When speaking of her family, Jin expressed pity for her parents. "I feel sad seeing my father getting older day by day. I don't know how to be a good child. It is not practical to be with him every day, but every time I part with him I can see his reluctance to let me go。"
Jin married a German man in 2005 and now leads a happy life with their adopted children.
