Sniffer Dogs receive training in a base of the General Administration of Customs in Beijing. Three weeks after they were born, the puppies get exposed to the surface and sound of different objects including wire fence, rubber pads, and toys. In the fifth week, they will learn about moving on the still conveyor belt, climbing small boxes, and performing other basic tasks. Then in the seventh and eighth weeks, puppies will be sent to the airport or warehouse to get familiar with the mobile conveyor belt. The qualified will be assigned to the formal class after passing the initial training programs. After three months of systematic training, the puppies need to pass the assessment to eventually become a sniffer dog to serve at the port. (Photo/VCG)
