Luka Modric made it three major awards in a row when he was named as the FIFA Best Player of the Year at a ceremony held in London on Monday evening. This is the third major individual award won by the 32-year-old Croatian midfielder in the last twelve weeks. Modric was the recipient of the Golden Ball awarded to the most outstanding player at the 2018 World Cup in Russia. He was then named the UEFA Champions League Player of the Year in August.
